Where we came from
In 2008-09, My wife Monica and I were parents of a toddler and newborn baby. By this time I had already experienced many incidents of extreme danger in my Law enforcement Career. I had been encouraging Monica to explore obtaining her Ohio Concealed Carry permit.
We got her enrolled into a local class of which she was the lone student. She attended the class and provided a synopsis of her experience. The class contained little useful information that would benefit a person in a real world self defense scenario. The class concluded with her shooting a .22lr pistol into a piece of paper in the instructor's back yard. As long as she hit the paper she would pass the course. ZERO Instruction.
I immediately began asking myself, "Is this what people are receiving when they take the majority of classes out there?." I was positive that I could do better by people, teaching relevant material that helps them to live a safer life.
I became NRA certified and along with 2 other like-minded gentlemen, GunTeachers was formed. Over the years we saw thousands trained not only in CCW classes but also in our advanced firearms classes. Eventually the other two partners moved onto other endeavors. I have since evolved GunTeachers Institute into a well known, well respected professional firearms training company that continues to evolve and grow.
